Justin Bieber Beats Lady Gaga In YouTube Video Popularity — For Now …

Lady Gaga has been on an epic, record-setting tear, packing ‘em in at concerts, selling millions of records and recently smashing previous marks for downloads, Facebook fans and total online video views.

But a girl can’t have it all, right? After a heated battle, Gaga went down in rare defeat on Thursday, when Justin Bieber surpassed her to set a record for the most-watched music video in YouTube history. At press time, Bieber’s “Baby” collabo with Ludacris had logged 245,746,720 views, pushing past Gaga’s epic “Bad Romance” clip, which was not far behind with 245,596,709.

Now, given Gaga’s rabid fanbase of little monsters, there’s no doubt this pitched battle will continue and perhaps see a few more lead changes, but for now, the Biebs has emerged victorious.

Bieber, in the midst of doctor-imposed vocal rest while on tour, reacted to the news with delight, tweeting on Thursday, “what is goin on with the ‘Baby’ video on YouTube is crazy … I started on YouTube so the support … well I just need to say thank u.”

Showing he was raised right and is a good sport, he followed that tweet with a flip of his bowl cut to his rival, writing, “someone just showed me and I just need to say that @ladygaga is an incredible artist who have great respect 4. And her vid is incredible … so it doesn’t matter who has more views, what matters is that we have incredible fans that support us … that I’m sure we are both grateful 4.”

Then again, winning feels kinda sweet, so he did do a bit of Twitter victory lap. “So thanks … like I said, I started on YouTube so … WOW!! Love u and wish u all the best in each and every one of ur lives. Thanks Beliebers!”

And in case the race got close again, his next post was a link to the video.

Trailing way behind on the list of most-watched music videos on YouTube are: Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the U.S.A.” (138.6 million), Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” (131.8 million), Miley Cyrus’ “7 Things” (125.2 million), Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” (117 million), Shakira’s “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” (101.7 million), Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” (100.1 million), Vanessa Hudgens’ “Say OK” (89.1 million) and Timbaland and OneRepublic’s “Apologize” (87.4 million).

Pink Returns To Stage Day After Tumble In Germany

A tumble onstage didn’t slow down Pink one bit. The 30-year-old singer took to Twitter (naturally) after a performance on Friday (July 16) in Germany to announce all was well and she was back to performing.

On Thursday, the singer suffered a mild scare when she was rushed to the hospital after falling from a harness meant to hold her suspended above stage at a concert in Nuremberg, Germany. According to GossipCop.com, the acrobatics enthusiast fell from the harness directly onto a steel barricade; the show ended immediately.

She sent out a tweet Friday saying, “Well, we did it!!! always get right back on the horse that bucked you. thank u gorgeous people of Salem, Germany!!! totally worth it!”

Pink had also tweeted her fans while riding in the ambulance on the way to the hospital Thursday, writing “to all my nurnberg fans…I am embarrassed and very sorry. I’m in ambulance now but I will b fine.”

She later hit Twitter again to explain the fall, tweeting: “[I] didn’t get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade.” The “So What” singer kept fans updated throughout her hospital visit. “Nothings broken,” she reported at one point. “No fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!” Thanx nurnberg ”

Pink, in the midst of her Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour, is scheduled to continue through Eastern Europe, making stops in Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Pink received a real-life scare Thursday when she was rushed to a hospital after falling from a harness that suspended her above stage at a concert in Nuremberg, Germany. According to Gossip Cop, the acrobatics enthusiast fell from the harness directly onto a steel barricade; the show ended immediately.

Ever upbeat, the 30-year-old singer took time to tweet her fans while riding in the ambulance to the hospital: “to all my nurnberg fans…I am embarrassed and very sorry. I’m in ambulance now but I will b fine.” While exact details regarding what song she was performing at the time have not been released, it is likely she was performing her trapeze/ aerial-silk routine to “Glitter in the Air,” a show-stopping number for which she received a standing ovation at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Pink (real name: Alicia Moore) later returned to her Twitter account to explain how the accident happened: “[I] didn’t get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade.” Amazingly enough, Moore kept fans updated throughout her hospital visit. “Nothings broken,” she reported. “No fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!” Thanx nurnberg ”

Moore’s on-again, off-again husband Carey Hart also chimed in via Twitter, adding that his gal was out of the hospital and on the mend. “@Pink is all good,” he tweeted. “Just got the sh– kicked out of her by the barrier. Steel barrier-1 Pink-0″

The singer has not yet revealed if her bumps and bruises will keep her from upcoming performances on her Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour, but she is scheduled to continue through Eastern Europe, making stops in Germany, Russia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Lady Gaga Upsets Beatles Fans By Playing John Lennon’s Piano

Lady Gaga has once again stirred up fans with another one of her unique performances. However, this time, it’s not her little monsters who are getting riled up but rather fans of John Lennon, who are upset that Gaga played the late Beatles legend’s white piano.

The brouhaha began when Lennon’s son Sean posted a picture of Lady Gaga tinkling the ivories — in a skimpy bodysuit and fishnet stockings — on his Twitter page, accompanied by the caption, “With gaga at mom’s house, she’s belting on the white piano.” Sean later removed the picture after fans complained that Gaga shouldn’t have been allowed to jam on the instrument, which was a gift to Lennon’s wife and Sean’s mother, Yoko Ono.

One tweeter in particular blasted Sean, writing, “WHY WOULD YOU LET LADY GAGA PLAY ON JOHN’S PIANO? I’m disappointed,” capping off the tweet with a frowning emoticon. The tweeter insisted Gaga was not up to snuff and later added, “Would you let just anyone play it? I mean geez, c’mon.”

Although he removed the offending pic, Sean defended Gaga from the haters. “Pianos meant are to be played. Why is everyone so uptight? What should we do, lock it away in a dusty room? So judgmental,” Sean tweeted. The musician also replied to another fan, insisting that John wouldn’t be bothered by Gaga taking to the keys. “Firstly, he gave that piano to my mother for her birthday, it is hers, secondly, he was not uptight the way you seem to be,” Sean tweeted. Ultimately, the musician called for the offended fans to calm down and focus on other issues. “Come on, lighten up … life’s too short, there’re enough real problems in the world.”

Eminem, Justin Bieber Are Rare Exceptions As Album Sales Fall

Thanks to Eminem, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum, record sales for the first half of 2010 weren’t totally in the toilet. But strong sellers from those artists only helped slow the bleeding of an industry that has suffered declining annual sales for much of the past decade.

According to midyear figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan on Thursday, overall U.S. album sales fell 11 percent in the first six months of the year to 213.7 million, down from the 232.8 million in sales during the same period in 2009. Between January 4 and July 4 physical album sales fell to 154 million, down from the 172.9 million over the same 26-week period in 2009.

But while CD sales were sliding again, digital album sales were up by 13.7 million to 42 million. Sales of digital tracks were mostly flat, down .2 percent to 597 million.

“Strong releases in 2010 have helped to slow the decline of new album sales,” said David Bakula, senior VP of analytics at Nielsen Entertainment, in a statement. “Albums by Eminem, Justin Bieber, Lady [Antebellum], Lady Gaga and Sade have each sold more than a million copies so far this year, and Lady A’s Need You Now has sold more than 2.3 million albums, surpassing last year’s best seller of this time period by a million units.”

Eminem’s Recovery quickly passed the 1 million mark in two weeks and Drake’s Thank Me Later appears poised to reach that watermark within the month. Things are likely to be even more grim in the second half of the year in light of 2009’s second-half sales boost in the wake of Michael Jackson’s June 2009 death. After the King of Pop’s passing, fans snatched up millions of his solo and Jackson 5 CDs and digital tracks, boosting sales figures in an otherwise flat period.

Jackson could help out again in the fall if a promised album of previously unreleased material hits shelves in time for the holidays. That LP, along with albums from T.I., Kanye West and Katy Perry in the coming months, could help boost the industry’s bottom line.
